Project Feature – Charlesbank

Charlesbank Capital Partners sought to expand their offices to the floor below their existing space at 200 Clarendon. VC saw this as an opportunity to shift the company’s traditional space to a more transitional design with increased open and collaborative areas, contemporary materials and a community hub. The goal of the design was to bridge the gap between the two floors for a cohesive workplace.

Movement between the floors is encouraged by the integration of a new stair that ends and begins in a community space drawing people to and from each floor; this design allows employees, who might not see each other on a regular basis, to interact with one another. Employees now convene in the bright and inviting cafe with its expansive center island.

Glass office fronts keep hallways feeling open and flooded with natural light. Copper-colored fabrics, leather and wood tones tie this floor to the traditional materials used in the space above. These pops of colors also serve to warm the otherwise neutral palette. Similarly, textured walls contrast the clean lines throughout the rest of the space. With these elements the design brings together the two floors and the company’s people into one unified workplace.
