The Colony Group, a financial advising firm, believes “strong relationships lead to more meaningful recommendations.” Visnick & Caulfield designed their new space to allow advisors to foster lasting bonds with their clients. Positive interactions are facilitated through the inviting and light-filled reception area. Each conference room off reception features glass fronts to maintain the space’s openness and allow light to travel into it. The natural light reflects off the bright–white walls enhancing its impact. Black walls ground the brightness and add depth to the space. This feeling of yin and yang flows from reception through the elevator lobby to the café. Black elevator doors alternate with wood paneling; the predominantly white café ceiling has a U-shape that encloses a matte black treated recess; and Mid-Century Modern-inspired furniture softens the strong verticals of the space with its natural-wood accents and curved forms.
