When Risk Strategies, a leading risk management consultancy and insurance broker, wanted to take a more innovative approach to their office space, they enlisted the help of VCA. The idea was to provide a fresh, stimulating workspace which would optimize employee engagement. The space was broken up into three different work ‘zones,’ each with slightly different furniture and flooring. The carpet moves from a subtle tone-on-tone linear pattern in the executive area to more lively geometric motifs in the other two. Black-framed office fronts and color schemes served as consistent elements throughout the spaces. Each work zone was then broken up by a “central hub”: the reception area and employee lounge. These two areas were designed with similar high-contrast elements; white epoxy flooring and exposed ceilings stand next to bold accents of blue and orange. Wood slats and an angular wood divider bring warmth to the reception area, with pops of color brought in through the furniture, accent carpet and all-blue conference room to its immediate right. Keeping true to the geometric flooring selections throughout, a triangular pattern was used in the woven flooring beneath the large island. An orange “risky business” neon signage above the beer tap adds a playful touch with a wink to the company’s name.
