Financial Engines

VC completed a 38,000 SF, two-story space in downtown Boston for Financial Engines, a company that specializes in investment management of corporate retirement funds. As the company expanded their workforce, a need for a larger workspace became apparent. The design team faced many challenges including low ceiling heights, little access to natural light, connection between two floors. The solution was to create a perceived volumetric space by maximizing sunlight, introducing unique lighting features, and utilizing a clean design. The team also introduced a dramatic communicating LED lit stair that enhances vertical mobility, office connectivity and illuminates not only the structure, but also the flanking corridor through the use of glass walls. A crisp and monochromatic color palette further brightens the space while providing the backdrop for Financial Engine’s branded primary colors to create dynamic focal points throughout the space.Read more
