A late 1920’s building with an aging 1980’s renovation was in dire need to engage staff and create visual proof that collaboration is present in the building and here to stay. The building owner’s real estate team called upon VC to develop an innovative concept that could greatly impact the psyche of thousands of employees and activate the main floor entrance lobby. The solution was the recently completed Tech Lounge, a destination for employees to get help and learn more about technology initiatives. VC’s design concept was to open the interior space to the building’s atrium both physically and spatially, taking advantage of tall internal windows. To evoke a true sense of a technology and innovation, state of the art technology was utilized. Standout features include a waved edge ceiling treatment that is illuminated with color variable LED lighting. Sound absorbing material on the walls, bench seating and flooring balance the acoustic considerations and desire of users. The client refers to the Tech Lounge as “a gem of a space” that functions both as an IT solution hub for the building and a communal gathering space.
