Collaborative design of our VCA space

Collaborative design of our VC space

At 500 Boylston Street, we can hardly believe how the summer is more than half over! We are keeping busy at VC with projects in all stages of the design process — from new site visits to our clients moving into their recently completed spaces. And in our own space, we are collaborating among ourselves to make our office the best space for us as designers.

Our new design at VCA allows for many ways to collaborate to adapt to our ever-changing team projects

Our new space allows for many ways to collaborate and adapt to our ever-changing team projects.

VCA Office-13

In an office full of designers, we are constantly bouncing ideas off each other and gathering inspiration. With the majority of our construction from the renovation complete, we are having some in-house fun working together to create wall features and graphics for our space that reflect what we do: design! Our former lunchroom is being transformed into what we are excited to call “The Design Yard.” We will create a space for inspiration, collaboration, and process that allows each designer to keep up with the constantly changing VC progress across the office. How do you promote collaboration? Stay tuned for what we come up with in the next few weeks.

We were excited to see our 500 Boylston Street neighbors at VMTurbo featured on Venture Fizz. The office space and the new roof deck look like they’re being utilized well. Venture Fizz called the roof deck “one the best roof decks in the city” and VC would have to agree!

Venture Fizz praised the space, saying “VMTurbo’s newly expanded digs are certainly a manifestation of their impressive growth and where they’re heading. It’s hard to say that any office space is ‘perfect’, but given the culture, the performance, the amenities and the location, VMTurbo’s office  is very hard to beat.” Seeing the company fill the open spaces makes designers at VC very excited — we love to see our spaces at work. Kudos to Associate Principal PaulPrincipal Fenglei and Designer Faegheh!

More clients are getting closer to their move-in dates, and our designers are visiting these projects to check on the details like finishes and furniture. Across the River in Cambridge, Senior Associate Daniela shared some photos from Clinical Ink, who will move into their new space at 10 Canal Park this week.

As you may remember, late last year we featured our design of Coverys’ new corporate headquarters in Boston. We have also provided design services for Coverys in other cites in New Jersey, Michigan, and Washington. The new space was so successful that Coverys engaged VC to design an additional floor in their Boston space, and Principal Jeff has recently visited to check on the progress.

In Burlington, Designer Liz met with technology company 128 at their new space under construction, and visited another space we are working on for the building’s owner, The Gutierrez Company. 128’s space plays on the firm’s namesake, pulling imagery and ideas from the highway that links their office and Greater Boston. As the carpet goes down and the paint goes on, this beautiful space is going to reflect the energy of the highway below. Designer Cora shot some exciting construction photos of the space this week.

Despite the heat, construction is progressing impressively at our lake house project in Natick. Senior Principal Burt and Designer Cora visited to check on the framing progress, and were both thrilled to see the steel members in place. The dramatic kitchen area features a 28-foot wall that opens to the beautiful Cochituate Lake view — a wall like that needs some serious structure!

On the programming side of the design spectrum, Senior Associate Daniela and Designer Cora visited the new building at 500 Totten Pond in Waltham with our new investment company client and Boston Properties to survey the construction and review our fit-plan on site. This space will be bright and dynamic, and we are excited to be moving toward Schematic Design in the next week.

VC may be busy, but we are making time to enjoy the warm weather. Senior Associate Marilyn and Designers Catherine, Paige, Faegheh and Cora celebrated summer on the waterfront at the Allegheny Post-Neocon party.
